Why Eat the Butt

Our Mission

Apparel with a purpose.

I was raised to never throw away food. In my house, it wasn't optional — you ate what was in front of you, end pieces included. Wasting food just wasn't something we did.

Now, as an adult with a family of my own, I've watched that habit slip. I see food get tossed without a second thought — the extra crust, the last few bites, the stuff that just sits until it goes bad. It's not that anyone means harm by it. It's just easy to forget, when there's always more in the fridge, that not everyone has that luxury.

That's where the idea for Eat the Butt came from. The "butt" is the end piece of a loaf of bread — the part everyone pushes to the back of the bag and nobody wants to eat. But somebody has to eat it. Somebody always did, growing up in my house. And the more I thought about it, the more it felt like the perfect symbol for something bigger: eat the butt. Don't waste it. Not the bread, not any of it — especially not when so many people don't have enough food to begin with.

10% of our profits go toward fighting hunger in our community.

We're not a nonprofit, and we're not pretending to be. We're a small, independent apparel brand — building something real, one t-shirt at a time. But I believe you can build a business that makes money and makes a difference, without one canceling out the other. That's the whole idea behind Eat the Butt.

Why "Eat the Butt"?

It's a joke you can't say without smiling. But underneath the pun is something we actually mean: nothing goes to waste, everybody eats, even the pieces nobody wants.

Yeah, the name's a little tongue-in-cheek. We're okay with that — as long as it gets people talking about hunger.

What Your Purchase Supports

When you buy from Eat the Butt, a portion of our profits goes directly to hunger relief efforts in our local community. We're committed to being transparent about this as we grow — including sharing updates on what we've been able to give back.
